For example, tropical rainforests critical for thousands of species are now threatened by rising temperatures. Second, global warming is exacerbating the problem of alien species invasion. With changing climatic conditions, species that previously could not survive in an area can now adapt and compete with local species. This can result in a decline in the population of endemic species that have worked together over a long period of time, affecting the food chain and ecosystem stability. Third, climate change impacts reproductive and migration cycles. Many species depend on certain environmental cues to reproduce or migrate. For example, migratory birds that move based on temperature and food availability may find these drivers out of sync due to climate change, which could lead to declines in population and genetic cross-diversity. Fourth, climate change has contributed to an increase in the frequency and intensity of natural disasters, such as floods and forest fires. These extreme events destroy habitats and kill species directly, triggering ecosystem imbalances. The loss of certain plant species could trigger vulnerability to pests and disease, endangering global food. Climate change is also worsening ocean conditions. Warming causes coral reef bleaching, threatening marine biodiversity.
